Portrait Sketch

Rachel has posed many times for the Murray Hill group and others, including at Ron Johnston's for me and the gang on Saturday for 3 weeks straight. Ron also did a beautiful painting of her during a separate modeling session.
This is the second time she posed for us at the Lit and is one of better drawings I've done, though I wish I could fix the top of her hair (too high!). She's at school in Arizona and in town for a week, we'll get to draw her again in the summer.

Portrait Sketch

This is Abigail who sat like statue. Now that I'm done I've noticed the eyes are off, one of the things I need to work on!

Portrait Sketch

This Jen's co-worker, Alexis.

Portrait Sketch

This drawing of Jean was done at Tim's Manly Pad in Tremont since the Lit was closed that Friday for the owner's vacation. Jean has lived in Tremont a long time and also has a part-time gallery.

Portrait Sketch

I can't remember this models name but by the end she was getting a little antsy to get done.

Portrait Sketch

This is Don, his wife posed for us a month or so ago.

Portrait Sketch

Portrait of Adam, he was serious looking the whole night. I've pretty much switched to just charcoal now. I'm looking for the right paper, grey or midtoned, to use and then be able to add white highlights and light tone.

Model Photos

Some of our recent models posing at the Lit. They all look so serious! The first session is 45 minutes long before the first break, and things are usually a bit more lively with conversation and joking around. It takes some time for some models to get settled in. The next 3 sessions are 30 minutes each and by the end everyone is getting a little tired and quiet.

New Photo Page

Received a lot of candid photos of the group in action and created a new page for them. They were taken just over the last month or so by Michael Wang (Jia's fiancee). Above on the right is Jack, who does pen and ink drawings of the whole scene. The Photo page link is in the left sidebar.

Latest Bunch of Portraits

Several portraits from over the last 2 months at the Lit on Fridays. Three hour sitting with 3 breaks. I haven't drawn too much lately and need to get semi-serious again with some good paper and practice (or a project) during the week. BONUS: photo of what they really look like!
